How the picker works

Every book in the PageWalker library has a suggested level on the CEFR scale, from A2 (elementary) to C1 (advanced), set for reading it in English. The picker shows books at your level and one step either side, and puts the closest matches first. Older books can feel harder than their level suggests; the reading levels guide explains why and gives a quick test you can do on any page.

Questions

Which classic novel is easiest for language learners?

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and The Story of Doctor Dolittle are the easiest books in the PageWalker library (around A2–B1): simple sentences, lots of repetition and stories many people already know.

What should I read at B2 level?

At B2 (upper intermediate) try The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes or Arsène Lupin for short stories, or Treasure Island, The Time Machine and the Jules Verne novels for longer reads.

How do I know my reading level?

Read one page of a book and count the words you don't know. Two to four unknown words means the book is right for learning; five or more means pick an easier one. Our reading levels guide explains the CEFR scale from A1 to C2.

Do I need to sign up?

No. The picker works in your browser without an account. Each result links to a book guide with a summary, tips and the interactive adventure.
