Privacy & data

Privacy Policy

This page presents the full localized PageWalker privacy policy for the website, app, reading tools, AI features, and support requests.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information PageWalker (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the PageWalker iPhone app, the web app at pagewalker.website/app and the pagewalker.website website, how we use it, and the choices you have. PageWalker is made and run by Furkan Sabri Çetinkaya, an independent developer, who is responsible for your information.

2. Information we collect

  • Account (web app, optional): You can play the first page of any online adventure without an account. To unlock the online adventures, you sign in with Google or with an email address and password. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). We receive your email address and an account ID. The iPhone app does not ask you to create an account.
  • Reading progress (web app): When you are signed in, your progress in the adventures is saved on our server so you can continue on another device.
  • Purchases: Online purchases are processed by Gumroad. We receive the purchase confirmation, including the email address and license key used for the purchase, so we can unlock your account. iPhone subscriptions are processed by Apple, and we use RevenueCat to check your subscription status with an anonymous app user ID. We never see your card or payment details.
  • Translation: When you tap a word or sentence to translate it, that text and the language codes are sent to a translation service: MyMemory, Google Translate, or our own translation server at api.pagewalker.website, which may use Anthropic’s Claude as a fallback. Translations made by our server are cached for up to 90 days, filed under a fingerprint of the text and not linked to you, so the same sentence loads faster next time; your IP address is used briefly to apply a daily limit.
  • Character chat (web app and iPhone app): Messages you send to a story character go through our server to Anthropic’s Claude API, which writes the reply. To apply the daily message limit, our server uses your purchase or account ID (web) or an anonymous app user ID (iPhone). We do not store the messages. Please do not put personal information in chat messages. If you speak instead of typing, your device’s or browser’s speech recognition turns your voice into text.
  • Narration: Stories are read aloud with the text-to-speech voices built into your device or browser.
  • Anonymous usage counts: The app and the web app send short event names (for example, “an adventure was opened”) and the platform (iOS, Android or web) to our server. We keep only daily totals. No account ID, device ID or IP address is stored with them; IP addresses are used only briefly to prevent abuse.
  • Messages to us: If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.
  • Website advertising: Our website (but not the paid web game at /app) shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

3. How we use your information

  • To run PageWalker and provide the stories, translation, narration and character chat.
  • To unlock what you bought and restore it when you sign in again.
  • To save your reading progress in the web app.
  • To apply fair-use limits and prevent abuse.
  • To understand, in total numbers, which features are used, and to fix problems.
  • To answer your messages.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run PageWalker for us, and only as needed for the purposes above:

  • Google: Firebase Authentication (web sign-in), Google Translate, and Google AdSense on the website.
  • Cloudflare: hosting for the website, the web app and our server.
  • Gumroad: online payments.
  • Apple: App Store purchases and subscriptions.
  • RevenueCat: subscription status in the iPhone app.
  • Anthropic: character chat, and as a fallback for translation.
  • MyMemory (Translated): translation.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your web account, your purchase record and your saved progress for as long as your account exists, or until you ask us to delete them. Daily usage totals are deleted after about 400 days, and cached translations after 90 days. We do not store chat messages.

6. Children’s privacy

PageWalker is made for readers of all ages. Accounts and purchases are meant for adults, or for children with a parent’s help. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can use the iPhone app, and try the online adventures, without creating an account.
  • You can ask us for a copy of, or the deletion of, your web account, purchase record and saved progress by writing to pagewalkergame@gmail.com.
  • You can turn off personalised ads on the website in Google Ads Settings.
  • You can cancel an iPhone subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings.
  • Depending on where you live, local law may give you further rights, such as the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority.

8. Security

All connections to PageWalker are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication, so we never see them, and payment details stay with Gumroad and Apple.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we change the “Last updated” date on this page.
